Guts Ishimatsu/ Yuji Suzuki
Guts Ishimatsu (born Yuji Suzuki, on the 5th of June 1949), was a Japanese former World Lightweight Champion. He held the title from April 1974 until May 1976, when he lost to Esteban De Jesus. As a boxer he was known for his unpredictable style of fighting, marking both victories and defeats in extravagant fashion. Ishimatsu fought such greats as Ismael Laguna (L), Roberto Duran (L), Esteban De Jesus (L) and Ken Buchanan (W) during his storied career. He changed his name to 'Guts' because he wanted to become a more gutsy fighter; during his early career he was known to give up during fights he was losing. Ishimatsu retired with a career record of 51 fights, 31 wins (17 by KO), with 14 losses and 6 draws.
